From what I heard, UA will start by replacing the current C-Class seat with the P.S. First Class seat, making their C-Class product lie-flat. I have also heard rumors about the end of the year as a start date but cannot confirm this. I am also unclear about UA's intentions regarding their F-Class product as it is still a fairly new product in the UA fleet...

UA's new Business Class seats will be installed starting in 2007. While the manufacturer has been chosen, the design has not been formally unveiled.

My money is on the seat shown on the 772LR demonstrator as well as the new seat on AM's 772s, as that is the latest design from the chosen manufactuer.

The UA p.s. First Class seat is the SQ Spacebed (sans the IFE).

That would be nice to see, especially if they fitted the seats with a nice color scheme. In my opinion, upgrading the current C-Class product will give UA a fair chance at enhancing their image on their international markets as the majority of their competition posses a superior product than what they currently have...

The IPP (Intl Premium Product) public roll out will likely be this winter.

First converted aircraft which will be a 767-300 is due out in the late spring.

Remainder of the 100 or so international aircraft will see conversions run thru 2009.

I believe that P.S. first class was definitely a test bed for lie flats. United took its Star Alliance partner's best offering and installed the Spacebed from Singapore airlines, but used leather seat covers and did not install the PTVs.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

The seats are cloth.

I don't like the PS seats in F for comfort. There is a lump in the seat that I find uncomfortable. I prefer the PS business seats.

I have heard that United is going to announce seats that are truly industry leading and innovative. Therefore, going with the choice to install lie flat seats that are already second generation (BA already replacing NCW) is not a good business choice and they have even commented on the stupidity of American's new seats, which dont' attract any new customers from teh like of BA/Virgin etc.
