BRS Based Air Malta A320

Tue Aug 29, 2006 2:53 am

Does anybody know how long, the BRS based Air Malta A320 aircraft, has been working for XL?
It has XL.com titles on the main fuselage, but still Air Malta colours.
Is this aircraft operating all XL schedule now from BRS?

It has done some weekly flights for XL for the year and a half it has been based at BRS. XL have a 737 based as well.

Saw it at EXT last sunday. I know it was based in BRS last summer and did flights for XLA (The ones our 734 couldn't do).

Excel now have a 737-800 at BRS, could someone please tell me if its G-OXLB or is that the one for CWL?

G-OXLB would be the BRS based 738, the CWL a/c is Canadian registered. They've been doing really well from both BRS and, especially CWL this season!

I believe the KM aircraft operates both XLA and KM flights. Don't know why it's in XL.com c/s though?

Probably to help prevent passenger confusion, I remember last year when our 734 said "Islandsflug" along the side, just got worse when we had "Aviajet" for a week and finally "Blueline" - by which point we'd pretty much given up  Smile Wink

Thanks, I knew OXLB and a Canadian 738 were down at CWL & BRS, just didn't know which way around.

Oh what a clash! They could at least have put the XL.com bit in colours that would take to the Air Malta c/s... or vica versa!

Thanks for the pic though  Smile

And in that last shot I'm actually onboard, sat at the back by the R2 door (you can't see me though).

Just like the old Sabre days! When I first flew for XLA, we had our first 2 flights on the 737-800 in full Sabre colours minus the titles.

The B737-800 at Bristol swaps with a Gatwick aircraft at Las Palmas every Saturday night/Sunday morning. So it's a different aircraft every week - although G-OXLB does appear quite often there.

I was under the impression that XL and KM had entered into some sort of a deal allowing KM flights to be sold through xl.com

KM operations in BRS and MAN were doing well until recently... Don't know it this is still true. Anyone with a better insight that could let us know??  Smile

I think Excel have contracted AIr Malta to provide aircraft and crews for them at BRS and BHX. Can anyone confirm?

Yep this is what they do. The BRS aircraft (9H-AEN since the end of last winter) is staying for this winter and most certainly next summer.

What makes you thInk they are not at the moment? MAN? Should'nt that be BHX?

Don't know really! Thanks for pointing out that it's BHX, not MAN  Smile
