JetBlue To Detroit?

Wed Aug 30, 2006 6:41 am

Hey guys,

Just noticed that JetBlue doesn't fly to Detroit. Anyone think theres a chance of them starting service sometime sooner or later?

Also, while I ask, anyone know of any other airlines considering starting Detroit service?

And, as a slight addition, when does the JetBlue JFK-TUS service start? Will it be an A320?

TUS is supposed to start 9/28/06 utilizing an A320.

As for Detroit, there have been discussions on here before but nothing officially announced yet. It's like the LOTTO...hey, you never know!

I don't think DTW would be the best market for them to enter, there are three LCC's already in that market, Spirit, Airtran, and Southwest. even though those airlines have been successful at DTW, I would be afraid that having a fourth LCC (5 if you count USair) would over saturate the market that the LCC's target.

If they were to fly DTW-JFK they would be up against legacy competition from NW and DL, with NW already offering round trip fares to JFK for as low 183$.
DTW-BOS maybe? NOPE NW offers it for 217$ rt while spirit offers it for 258$
Not really a market that B6 needs to be entering.

Jetblue to Detroit? Only if NW goes chapter 7. As stated above, too many LCCs.

JFK-DTW on JB would be successful. It would free the nice ol' DTW pax from the horrors of NW..

Why not FNT? It could work. Great location for those of us in the Northern suburbs.

It would be nice to see B6 at DTW, but I've used NW for MANY flights, and have YET to experience anything other than good service. Maybe I'm just more understanding or sympathetic or lucky than most?

I'm sure NW's substandard DC9 sevice is soooo much better than anything JetBlue could provide. Screw staring at a seatback, cross your fingers the 40+ yr old bird stays in the sky...

for 180$ rt im not going to complain about anything but get your facts straight, Nw does fly 2 flts into jfk with a DC 9 but also offer a flight with a A319.

into LGA for the same price 5x A320,2x 757, A319 I'll ride with NW anyday with that fare on those planes

I think FNT would better serve B6 than DTW. I don't think they can beat NK on the NY-DTW route. Why not go to LGA and get $57 one way (I have gotten that fare many times). The flight is pretty short so when you get bored of your iPod or your book you are landing. So FNT would be better since it gets Northern DTW and the northern suburbs. Draws from a prtty big area.

JetBlue would first have to get bulletproof hulls and windows for their aircraft before serving Detroit.  duck

That would only be the case if we wanted to start flying into DET, DTW really isn't in THAT bad of a neighborhood.

I think B6 aught to innaugurate pax service to PTK. That would be sweet. Closer than FNT, DTW and DET to many suburban Detroiters. However I don't think neighbors would approve. BTW isn't PTK expanding 27L/9R from 6200 to 6500'?
