NW A/C In Short Term Storage!

Wed Aug 30, 2006 7:51 am

Hi there, I've noticed in the past 12-18 months that NW have been sending there A/C into storage for only 6 months or so and then returning the A/C back into service and then another A/C goes into "Short Term" storage. Can anybody tell me why NW is doing this. This mainly affects A/C types 747's, D10's & 757's. Many thanks if anyone can help me. Regards from Timetable.

It is my understanding that those aircraft going into short-term storage because their leases are being re-negotiated. It's nothing new; most of the airlines have been doing this since the economic downturn several years ago. With respect to the DC10, they are being quickly retired, so while you may see them being activated after NWA delivers them to the desert, they're not going back into NWA revenue service.
