On Its 25th Anniversary Day, Horizon Air Re-Enacts First Flight from Seattle to Yakima

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 1
WHAT: Horizon Air will re-enact its first flight on Sept. 1, 1981, from Seattle to Yakima, to mark 25 years of service. A Bombardier Q400 aircraft sporting a special 25th anniversary paint scheme will be used for this flight. Passengers on the flight will include Horizon Air CEO Jeff Pinneo; Alaska Air Group CEO Bill Ayer; Horizon Air founders Milt Kuolt, Bruce McCaw, and Joe Clark; and some of Horizon's longest-term employees. Upon the aircraft's arrival, a celebration will be held in the airport terminal, open to the public.
WHERE: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Gate B-3 and the aircraft-arrivals ramp and terminal area of the Yakima International Airport.
1:15 p.m. -- Passengers will begin gathering at Sea-Tac Gate B-3 for boarding their 1:55 p.m. flight to Yakima.
2:35 p.m. -- The aircraft arrives in Yakima, passing beneath a water arch provided by the Yakima Fire Department. From the time the aircraft arrives until 4 p.m., the aircraft will remain accessible to those wishing to take photos or video.
2:45 p.m. -- Interviews with founders will be available in the terminal or by the plane. Food will be served buffet style in the terminal. A mariachi band will provide musical background.
3:45 p.m. -- A short presentation will take place in the terminal. Speakers will include Yakima Airport Assistant Manager Jerry Kilpatrick, Yakima Mayor Pro Tem Neil McClure, Bombardier Vice President Trung Ngo, Horizon CEO Jeff Pinneo, Alaska Air Group CEO Bill Ayer, and Horizon founder Milt Kuolt.
4:15 p.m. -- A special 25th anniversary cake will be cut and served.
5:40 p.m. -- The aircraft leaves for Seattle.
