What's Going On With The 2 New AS 738s?

Fri Sep 01, 2006 2:03 pm

Can anyone clarify the current situation with the N558AS and N559AS please?

24 Aug YK438 l/n 2026 (N558AS) seen PAE in green primer as N6067E
25 Aug YK438 l/n 2026 (N558AS) seen PAE in green primer as N6067E
25 Aug N558AS seen in full c/s at RNT. (by the same person as above)

27 Aug N558AS seen in full c/s at RNT.
29 Aug ASA9426 ferried RNT-SEA B738 (N558AS?)

Photo proof exists of N558AS in full c/s at RNT on 27 Aug and the reg displayed is CLEARLY N558AS.

Was ASA9426 actually N559AS then? BOE438 (N558AS) has been noted on the tracker 28, 29 and 31 Aug so this one is still to deliver?

My source is very sure he saw 2026 at PAE in green primer and then later N558AS at RNT in full c/s. How is this possible? Can an aircraft be painted in a couple of hours? I note from the tracker that 2026 didn't fly on 25 Aug anyway! The last reported movement was RAP-PAE on 24 Aug and then stayed at PAE until 27 Aug where it performed a PAE-PAE local flight. Therefore, the pic of N558AS at RNT on 25 Aug must have actually been N559AS and painted in error!

Thoughts?

Thanks for the PM Justin.

Have you any idea when the l/ns changed? The official info from Boeing says thus :

July 31, 2006
35177 2026 YK438 737-890 Alaska Airlines N558AS
35178 2031 YK439 737-890 Alaska Airlines N559AS

I bow to your superior knowledge though as it's the more recent of the two.
