Thank god politics doesn't apply much to international civil aviation. Just two days ago I flew in a US airliner for many hours in Iranian airspace (NW DC-10 BOM
), and two years ago I flew right across Cuba on one (CO B738 PTY
). It's really nice that US airlines feel safe enough to fly such routes even in the current climate, even though the US government has on occasion taken out civil airliners of hostile nations (IR655 on July 3 1988
). I hope it stays that way.
