DL Starts 757 Service To PNS Today.

Fri Sep 01, 2006 5:25 pm

Pensacola Airport enthusiest, the time has come for one and all, buy your tickets, get through security and break out the camera's..
Delta will operate its very first scheduled flight using the 757 into PNS.
Flight 1089 is set to arrive at 1520 with what I would imagine will be a full flight. Most likely the media will be on hand to do a story about it, as for Pensacola, it really is a newsworthy event, a sign of growth for the airport and City of Pensacola. Next week starting mid week the 757 will begin terminating at 2000. I look to eventually get a ticket on the bird, for now, I have to work it and fill her up with baggage.
One question I do have for those Delta people who have inside info as to how 776 is operating. Normally DL 776 is a MD-88 stopping in ATL and continueing onto MCI. Well, its a bit interesting on 9/1, DL 776 PNS-ATL is a 757,
DL 776 ATL-MCI is a 88, so how exactly to I seperate the hold outs? or do I?
Delta Rampers will know what I mean by the question.
At any rate, a welcome sign for Pensacola, a 757 is coming to town.

Even though its been quite a while since I worked the ramp, the flight number continues on to MCI, but there is an aircraft change. So you would want to place through bags to MCI in a seperate bin, as to expedite the transfer in ATL. For instance, place through bags to MCI in bin 1, CB's in bin 2, and then your DB's in bin 3. This way, the bag drivers in ATL don't have to run back and forth collecting MCI bags to take to the next flight.

Yep, I saw the Delta 757 land and takeoff today. It landed at about 3:10pm (Early) and departed a little late. Was sitting at the gate for a while. There was a couple of people watching it, some even taking pictures. I took a video of it landing. (Hope it upload it SOON!) It of course will be on the news this evening. I hope the 757 remains in schedule for a while. BTW-What is up with the registration number N750AT, is this plane a former ATA plane?

Here is a picture take I took...

Delta 776, about to takeoff from runway 26 at Pensacola, FL! Nonstop to Atlanta. First scheduled 757 into PNS in a LONG TIME!

Out of curiousity, which gate did it use? A2 or A4?

A2 gets most of the mainline flights, but I wasn't sure if it would be too snug of a fit for the 757? It'd be really nice if sometime they sub in an ex-Song plane...how odd would it be to have live TV on such a short run!

It used gate A4, next to the FL gate. Yea, would of been great if it was a EX-Song plane..Maybe tomorrow, or the following days.

Yes, it is. Delta has four former ATA 757s.

And to give even more info, those planes were initially operated by Singapore before they found their way to ATA.
