Loads On NWI - BRS & EXT

Tue Sep 05, 2006 8:29 pm

I was just wondering, what are the loads like on the Norwich - Bristol route and Norwich - Exeter route?

Also, is there any chance Norwich is going to set up a route to Brussels? I could definately see either Eastern, FlyBE, VLM or BMI regional doing the service.

Any thoughts?

eastern would seem like the most likely candidate because they already fly there!

Bmi Regional flies ABZ-NWI numerous times a day, along with T3. Very profitable oil route.

BE have already operated to BRU in the past. I am sure that there was a service from SOU, there might have been one from BHX as well, but along with BGY the service was dropped pretty quickly. I am talking around 2003.

In answer to your real question, as far as i understand the loads on the BE service between EXT and NWI have been generally good at around the 70% mark. My source for this being the pprune forums. Sorry i can't give you any figures on the WOW route from BRS.

BMI Regional operate two flights (Monday - Friday) and one flight on Saturday and Sunday to ABZ with E145 equipment.

The lowest fare on that route is £170 return. Not too bad I suppose.

And where did you get that information from, because I can get £48 return on BMI.

Now that is a good deal, although it won't beat the fares on the train and most probably the train is quicker because of the amount of time spent at the two airports and travelling in and out of both city centres.

Sadly however we continue to see ineffiencies on our railway network where passengers cant get to some of the UK's biggest business gateways for 9 am meetings and come back on the same day.

For a start, bmi DO fly from Norwich, and so what if VLM dont? And bmi for that matter (if they didnt). Theres no reason why a new airline cant start up the route!!

bmi never flew that route. It was Eastern airways, but that has recently been taken over by FlyBE.

They did operate that route for a short period of time. Here is the press release to celebrate the inauguration of flights.

Press Release - BMI Begins NWI-MAN Flights

I can't find anything though referring to when the service was no longer operated by BMI.
