DTW Runway Construction

Wed Sep 06, 2006 12:44 am

While arriving from MCO-DTW last night on 22R (the 752 sure is a nice bird), I noticed during the taxi that DTW had a runway with a big fat X on the end.

Upon checking their website, it was confirmed that 9R/27L is closed for construction, and it appears that it took 3R/21 down with it.

Does anyone know what improvments/modifications are being made to those runways?

IIRC they are using that runway for taxi at the moment, and its been that way for about two years or so.
