The Semi-Monthly CO-UA Merger Thread

Wed Sep 06, 2006 3:36 am

This time, the Cleveland Plain Dealer gets into the act, with a lengthy article into day's P-D Busness Section. Note, no one has any inkling if there's any talks, but I guess it was a slow news day.  Big grin

Well I think this says it all.

"Neither Continental nor United would comment on the speculation. "We have repeatedly said that our preference is to grow alone and avoid some of the challenges of merging with other carriers," Continental spokeswoman Mary Clark said."

I agree 100%. I think these "experts" and "analysts" are just trying to sound self-important, and just put out stuff just to get their name in the papers.

Doesn't mean something won't happen at sometime-I fully expect there to be consolidation and/or liquidation in the American airline industry, but I don't think UA/CO will happen.
