Travelcitydirect@ Gatwick?

Fri Sep 08, 2006 5:56 pm

There are some photos of TravelCityDirect's B747 at Gatwick. Do they operate on behalf of anyone else, its just it is not written on the BAA website that this airline operates to anywhere from Gatwick.

They probably operate as XLA flights, as the two are sister companies. The Gatwick based 743 now has XLA titles on its tail.

Travelcity Direct aren't an airline, they're a tour operator. The Travelcity Direct titles were applied to Air Atlanta Europe B747's, as most passengers on the flights would have booked through TCD (so to prevent confusion among passengers). Since, Excel have taken over the EUK B747-300's, and the flights are being advertised as Excel Airways, so the liveries are being changed.

Yes, the flights are operated as Excel Airways, under codes such as XLA123L.

They operated my flight from LGW to HRG last year. Was kinda cool. The flight number definately wasn't XLA though..

Lets not forget the JUMBO JET BLAZE TERROR recently as a excel/TCD 743 had an engine fire in Sharm or something.
HORROR SHOCK SCANDAL!

Thanks

Yes last year it would have TCD/5A, as it was before Air Atlanta bought XLA. All this years flights have been operated under the XLA codes.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but how is that of any relevance here?

It was actually an engine flame out, didn't catch on fire, just power surged. Was on TF-AMK, had to have an engine change. As said above is that relevance to anything?
