Asiana Livery In Different Colors.

Mon Sep 11, 2006 6:00 am

In this picture, It seems that they have 3 different shades of gray on their aircraft. Which one is the real one? (I assume 2 of them have been mispainted?)

What picture?

I'm only guessing, but it is possible that all three aircraft have been painted for different amounts of time... so the amount of fading would be varied...?

That's not fading, that's different colours. Must have been painted at different shops with different manufacturers' paints or the colour recipe was not adhered to strictly. Pretty amazed at just how different they are though.

If I were their brand manager, I'd be pissed off.

You're right there! Now that I see the actual photo, they're some serious deviations!

Colors on OZ's aircraft do indeed fade. The middle aircraft is most likely the new 74F they received this spring. The single 76F has been in OZ fleet for many years, and probably will be in the maintance shops perhaps after the year-end.

At least OZ's paint job isn't peeling/chipping away like US's 733/734s.

I recall this being discussed here four years back and the pic seems to have been cropped too, as it showed a whole slew of Korean Air Cargo aircraft parked on the opposite side.

Colour wise I prefer the middle brownish hue which is the original shade they use.

I guess they might have come out with standard colours but the fading process is different between which paint has been used.
If you compare the different types of other airlines which have coloured tops, like KLM and Aer Lingus, you can see the blue or green changes over time, with also differences between Boeing, Airbus and Fokkers, likely painted by different paintshops.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

I agree, they are different. Since they are brand new I guess we cant blame it on sun/daytime operations
