I Need Airfare

Thu Jun 29, 2000 9:38 am

If anyone has a chance, I need to find a round-trip ticket from LAS to ALB on 7/19/2000-7/23/2000 ASAP. I was having a hard time finding cheap flights. Any suggestions? Thanks

I don't like to do this on this forum, but you can get one for as low as 298.00 with 14 days in advance, but you would have to alter your return date to meet this fare. Shop online and get quotes from the majors or just call!!

Oh, come on, guys, help a guy out already. Geez! Telling them the fare without giving information on where to get it is rather useless, don't you think?

Vincent:

I have two suggestions. National offers a roundtrip fare from Las Vegas to Newark for $278; if you're planning on renting a car on this trip, you can get off in Newark and drive to Albany. National's service is supposedly really good, and it's on 757-200 aircraft.

My other suggestion is that you join the Best Fares travel club, which can be found at www.bestfares.com. It costs $60 to join, but they have airfares that are $100-200 lower than the lowest fare even on Expedia or Travelocity. They'll jerk you around a little bit with service fees, and you'll have to spend an hour and a half on hold listening to the same 10 songs over and over, but IMO, it's worth it. Plus, once you've paid the $60 subscription fee, you'll be able to get whatever other tickets you need for the rest of the year at reduced rates. Check their website for details on what fares are available.

Hope that helps!

Southwest has pretty cheap airfare and its only 14 day advance. I am not sure but think it is a straight shot too. Check out its website.

Meant to mention SWA before, but I forgot.

The fare is okay, but you could get better on lowestfare.com, I think. SWA's advertised fare from LAS to ALB is $382 for a 7-day advance purchase. It's only $318 if your travel dates are flexible (floy on a Tue/Wed/Sat), but it's a 21 day advance purchase fare.

There's one nonstop flight on SWA leaving at 3pm and arriving at 11:05pm. There's also a connecting service through Baltimore that leaves at 9:10 am and gets there at 6:30 pm.

As N202PA stated, the best two options are Southwest or National. I was on a flight last weekend up to Albany and the airport is beautiful when compared to Newark (My home base). That being said, if the airfare is cheaper by flying National go with them. I would even say go with them over WN but I don't know your financial situation. They have excellent service and have really caught on in their short time in the industry. I have also heard that their 757s are kept in immaculate condition. I would say that driving to Albany would take about 2 1/2 hrs from Newark. Jump on 287North and take it to the New York Thru Way. Care to share on which way you are leaning?

Thanks for the advice. The trip I'm planing is for a friend of mine who will be comming to Albany. I think the best way for them would be Southwest non-stop to ALB. Thanks for the advice.
