I think the figures on AC
's website are a bit optimistic. I remember hearing of payload restrictions on YVR
which are shorter routes and have much less flight time in ETOPS territory. The range of the A330-300 is just barely enough for HNL
, taking into account ETOPS reserves. Most likely there would have to be fairly signifigant payload restrictions. Unless there was overwhelming demand, the 767-300 can comfortably operate the route, as can the A340-300 if more capacity is needed. No sense pushing an aircraft to its limits when you have better suited aircraft already in the fleet.
Don't get me wrong, the A333 fits very well in AC
's fleet and is quite highly regarded as having a high dispatch rate, just that it would be fairly poorly suited for such a flight. The A332 would fare quite a bit better.
