Apparently it's continuing to MHV... Is the aircraft being retired or something and making a stop in SAN? If so, that might make a great photo oppurtunity, because the website says the a/c is still there...

Probably being junked and headed to MHV.

SAN stop is likely for customs clearance.

So it would fly it's DC-9-10 to the dessert for scrapping...

Do you know the registration of this aircraft?

Looks like it departed SAN at 1:38pm. Probably had lunch here. Might as well grab a bite to eat on the wharf before heading on out.

Hope they did not have to hitchhike back to TIJ to catch a ride back to LAP.

Sadly, another baby nine begins its demise.  Sad I wish I could ride on one.

I saw all-white DC-9-10 with an AeroCalifornia rudder at Brown Field last Friday after I had crossed the Otay/Mesa border heading back into the U.S.. I wonder if its one of the planes that was stored in LAP, or if its now operated by a new charter company on behalf of the immigration services. Anybody know?

Also, does anyone remember an old 720 operated by INS, or another gov. agency that used to be based at Brown Field back in the late 80s/early 90s?

JR has returned 03 Dc9-32s and ALL Dc9-15s are back on its way north for most probably, retirement.

You're joking?? I'm always looking at FlyteComm for any possible mainline aircraft coming thru SDM. How'd I miss that?

So I guess that they are just returning the stored DC-9-10s that were still airworthy to their lessors?

Not joking, they were -10 series, possibly one being the all-white aircraft referenced earlier. SER6702,6704. One came in from La Paz. Don't remember the origin of the second one.

If the second one originated from TIJ...that would be a very short flight!!!

I wish it was true. My last -10 was 1/2/05 NW DTW-FNT, the best 54 miles I ever spent in a first class seat and slamming two JD's and Coke.

I saw this today at SAN, as I am in San Diego on business. Definitely looked pretty run down and, dare I say, ready to be retired!

If it looked that way, then they had their reasons for scrapping it. I hope they find new homes as freighters.

This was pretty damn funny. Heck it would be better than some other NW fleet types. Come on NW. We need something to talk about. You could probably get these 9s cheap!
