Thu Sep 14, 2006 2:35 am

I recieved the following fare-sale information in my weekly email update...

DALLAS--SEPTEMBER 13, 2006-- Lufthansa just announced a
major fall and winter sale to more than 70 European
destinations. This 6-day sale ends September 18.

Flights from Dallas start at $242 each way based on
roundtrip purchase. Fly between October 30-March
31. Blackout dates are December 15-January 7.

Sample fares (each way):
- Dallas-Manchester ... $242
- Dallas-Amsterdam ... $315
- Dallas-Paris ... $350
- Dallas-Athens ... $351

Sample fares already include the fuel surcharge. Fees,
taxes and airport charges are additional.

Travelzoo Tip:
We noticed that the sale fares can often be combined with
flights on Lufthansa's partner airlines, such as United.
To ensure you get the best price, check both Lufthansa-
usa.com, as well as your favorite online travel agent
(e.g., Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity).

No, that is ONE European route that does well with foreign metal at DFW. However, it does better in the summer, because the flight depends a lot on Indians/Pakistanis/etc to fly "home" for vacation via FRA.

In the winter and fall, the demand is less and accordingly, LH switches to a A330 series at that time and cancels Christmas/New year's etc when demand is very low.

LH has been in the market at DFW for a long time and is one of DFW "regional" airports few foreign metal successes. It has stayed while so many others have left. Is BA to follow? Stay tuned!!

British Airways has feed on the Dallas end of the flight, but doesn't have as much feed on the European end as Lufthansa.
