Flags And Registrations On Aircraft?

Fri Sep 15, 2006 4:16 am

I have noticed that all Swiss aircraft have a national flag on them. This must be a legal requirement or something I suppose? Do any other countries do the same?
What about rules on the sizes of registrations, font, and locations. How about rules on having them under the wings? Spotters would love the great billboard sized registrations of yesteryear!

There are many airlines that put their country of registration somewhere on their planes.

 no  I will clarify...

In the UK the letters on our car number plates have to be a certain size. Is this the same for aircraft? Are they located at the aft of the plane so it can be identified after a crash?

As in, MUST have the national flag somewhere on the aircraft.

Yer get me?
