They are testing a new 1000 feet internal pressure design and it ended up stretching a bit more than they thought it would...

It's a tragic story. This particular 744 has been diagnosed with a severe thyroid problem which has stretched the skin to the limits, and caused gangrene. This is one of the rare shots of the aircraft returning to the hospital after a trip to the Cancer Clinic for radiation therapy.
I'm sure I speak for all A.Netters when I say our thought and prayers are with this aircraft, which has done nothing to deserve this horrible medical condition, and we all wish it a speedy recovery.

This is actually the new and improved, bigger than an A380, 747j.

Not sure if it will be available only as a freighter, maybe offered with a Tara-esque circular staircase in the middle but only in the VIP model (one of which is sure to be built).

Rumor has it that EK, SQ, QF and SW are ready to write checks immediately upon launch. EIS is currently planned for 2012 but is likely to actually happen in 2014. The size of the hinge pins is one of the nightmares of assembly. The pin is so long that 370 miles of road have to be closed between Portland and Everett when they are being transported on the purpose built 14 axle pin transporter.

But in the end with CAD and Google Earth, nothing is too complicated. If it can be imagined, it must be built.

C'mon guys, the original post seems genuine. Stop kiddin'.

It's the new Boeing Air transporter, based on a 747-400 platform. Boeing is having a Taiwanese company called Evergreen convert 3 aircraft for its own use in the 787 dreamliner project.

They will use it to carry huge amounts of air from greener parts of the world to regularly fill the Dreamliner cabins with fresh air.

Emirates has already announced its intention of placing an order for 100+ such aircraft. They plan to fill them up with dry desert air and export it to large polluted metropolis around the world.

Industry analysts estimate that the market for the 747-LCF (Large CleanAir Freighter) will be huge in years to come. A well known industry insider who currently wishes to remain anonymous said "This will be a breath of fresh air for the ailing airline industry. Curiously, Boeing took the lead over Airbus for this one since the A380 freighter will arrive on the market later".

Yes, but as already explained by another post, if it is posted in this way, the photographer does not get the hit count that the picture might deserve; the picture viewed through the thread starters post will not register a view on the actual shot. If you look, the thread starters picture has clocked over 300 hits already, hits that might otherwise have been logged deservedly against the photographers shot.

So, picky or not, it's not the correct way to link to a picture.

This guy has a point. Get serious folks, this is no laughing matter. Fact is that the 747 tried to squeeze into an adjacent hole between parked airplanes, but inadvertently rammed into the backside of the A380. Though the 747 tried to stop, it was simply too late and he pushed all the way into the rear. The A380 owner was NOT happy!!

This plane was actually developed by a consortium of anti-Airbus a.netters. Plans are for it to do photography/touch-and-go trials @ SXM, well ahead of the projected arrival of the A380 to that airport.

Production versions will replace the NW DC-9's.

Ok Enough speculation THis IS the TRUTH
I know a guy whose uncles, cousins, fathers Brother worked with the guy that makes the lug nuts for the wheels on the 747 he said the Boeing and Airbus are actually the same company!!! (Shocking I Know!!)
This pic is the ultra secret prototype of the a380.
They changed it because it looked to much like a Boeing and the truth would leak out.

Let me copy my question posted in a different thread about this aircraft, because I truly have some questions. Before I do that, I've laughed out loud with some of the replies here.

Here's my other posting:

OK, I need some help here. I must have missed something while I was on vacation in August, or something, because I saw this plane for the first time in a a.net picture about a week ago.

Why was this plane built? I mean, I know it's a cargo plane, but is it specifically for the 787 parts being hauled around the world? I saw some pictures of this plane in Asia, is this going to be built for other carriers or is it a "one of" for Boeing?
Also, I'll be the moron mentioned above. Is there any possible chance that Boeing has any plans to further alter this design and make a pax version?

Thanks, I just haven't had any knowledge of this bird.

Voyager747 --
Here's what's up with that Boeing:

Quote:
Boeing announced in October 2003 that due to the high cost of marine shipping, air transport will be the primary method of transporting parts for the 787. Passenger 747-400 aircraft are to be converted into an outsize configuration, in order to ferry sub-assemblies to Everett, Washington for final assembly. It has a bulging fuselage like the Super Guppy or Airbus Beluga cargo planes used for transporting wings and fuselage sections. The Large Cargo Freighter can hold three times the volume of a 747-400F freighter.

Boeing 747 Large Cargo Freighter

So no, they are not trying to put in a full-size upper deck.

Hahaha it truely is a Big Ugly Fat F*ck. Sorry to all offended by that last "F" in the acronym, but I grew up hearing it called that (because my father's an ex B-52D pilot) and I don't think anything else sounds right (LoL!). It would be quite a sight to see that 747 with 8 little, underpowered hair dryers and an A380 vertical stabilizer!! Anyways, just a little mid-morning humor, hope you all don't mind  Wink .

LoL I like your creativity on that one! Interestingly enough, at one point AS did have a 747 on order..

As human weight and the size of our waist have increased in our fair country so did the width of aircraft to accomodate our ever exanding waistlines. Or maybe this aircraft is just bloated.
