What is a Big XII school like KU doing visiting a division 1-AA "should be" MAC school like Toledo?  eyepopping  I would think that travel expenses alone would dictate that Lawrence would be the best revenue site for such a game. My school BYU is enroute back to Boston tomorrow for a Saturday showdown with the BC Eagles. Not sure how they are working that charter, I'm pretty sure it's a DL 738 or 752 since they have used them in the past.  box

BYU is going to be murdered by BC. Mark it down. I'll also laugh when BYU drops a couple more games this season, especially to UU and TCU. IMO, I think BYU is the team/program I despise most. The arrogance of Notre Dame, the tradition of Wake Forest.

It is a JetBlue A320...but going out of SLC this time instead of PVU like week one against Arizona (search "PVU" for the picture). We had this information on the SLCSpotters website early this morning  Wink

FS- UU is actually a nice place IMO. Having spent time up there recently, and partied a little up there, it isn't like its stone cold neighbor to the south. Didn't BYU just fire a prof for coming out against gay marriages??? The above post didn't say anything about Provo, Utah, or the school anyway, it was its team. As a Fresno State fan, I've dealt with BYU fans in the past, and having visited PVU, and the Campus, I've also shaped my opinion.
...and if you think my opinion that BYU is going to be smashed by BC is some sort of bias...think again. The ACC is 10x the league the MWC is. BYU will finish at the highest 3rd this year. Behind TCU, UU, and possibly behind CSU.

Any idea what Miami is taking to Louisville? I would imagine an AA 757.

It appears to be an even exchange...Toledo came to Kansas 2 years ago, it seems...I know at least one other Big 12 school has a similar exchange planned with a MAC school in the seasons to come...

When teams visit UC-Boulder, do they fly into DEN or some airport in Boulder? I'm wondering because the ASU football team plays UC-Boulder on Saturday.

First off, before USAFHummer gets you, it is CU and you don't have to say Boulder as it is assumed.

As for where teams fly into I would guess DEN as the Boulder and Longmont airports that are the closest are two small for a large jetliner (I think.) Perhaps they could land at JeffCo. I would doubt Centennial is used since DEN is closer to the school. It is only about a 30 minute or so drive from there.

I wouldn't quite say that. Toledo has always had success at filling the stands when big teams have come in. Purdue, Indiana..always had packed houses. With it being a Friday night, not sure how well this is going to work out but I bet it is worth it to bring that here.

On a side note. BGSU will be going to Florida International on a Miami Air 737-800.

Don't forget a few years back when Pitt came into Toledo ranked 8th and lost a great game.

if the Gators are on a DL 767 I will make sure to get out to TYS and see that thing come in. It's so nice to see something bigger than a MD88 come in.

Cincinnati is taking a bus to their thrashing in Columbus. It would take them far longer to go to CVG, get on a plane, fly to CMH, deplane, and take a bus to their hotel.

Besides, about 3:30 tomorrow afternoon, they're going to want as short a return trip as possible.

Correct, neither 1V5 nor LMO can handle anything more than a light bizjet at best...Jeffco can handle a mainline jet, but those movements are extremely rare (e.g. U2 came in on an AC A320 to BJC for their tour a year or two ago)...although the Buffs basketball team will use BJC on occasion for their charters...all inbound teams do use DEN...APA isn't all that much farther away (the two are in different directions from Boulder though), but DEN makes a little more sense to use...

Finally, Some guys who agree with me! I once posted on how a BYU basketball game was the most bizarre thing I ever went to, and how I felt incredibly out of place there, and FS jumped all over me claming all sorts of far out things, even me being racist. I can't help the school has the pious attitude that it does, and its much like a larger Bob Jones U. J.Mo, I agree, anyone that is playing BYU is by default my 3rd favorite team for the week...after Fresno State and Miami (FL.) of course. Are you a Fresno State fan J.mo?

There are two NW 757-200's flying LNK-LAX right now...I imagine one is team and one is for the band...Im sure there will be a few fan charters as well as I read that there are allegedly supposed to be 35,000 to 40,000 Nebraska fans in the Coliseum itself for the game...and Im sure they all don't live in SoCal...

Do the bands usually go to games? Last weekend for LSU's sluaghter of the UA, there were 2 Allegient MD-80's and one HP 757 that flew to BTR and MSY. I talked to some band people and they say the band does not go to the away games. The football team does not need three airplanes and I also don't think two planes were needed for fan charters, but I'm no expert.

Anyway, this week, Stephen F. Austin University from Texas is flying Champion Air from Shrevport, Louisiana (SHV). I wondered why till I figured out the school was not in Austin.

I think it depends on the school...I know our band here at CU goes on at least 1 road game a year, but usually they travel by bus (last year they went to the game @ Oklahoma State)...Nebraska, with their huge level of support, probably wouldn't have any trouble coming up with the $$$ to send their band to California for the game...I guess we'll see tomorrow if they show up at the Coliseum...

Back in an hour or so with some more charters...

Tell that to big time football powers like Alabama that have lost to MAC schools over the past several years.
Besides UU and TCU, whom has the Mountain West beaten, the only non-conference win for BYU last year was Eastern Illinois, and they already lost to Arizona this year.

I think it might have to do with not being able to get out of the departure airports with enough gas to go nonstop, possibly? Both COU and HTS have their longest runway being around 6500 ft. long...though neither flight in question exceeds 850 miles nonstop (COU-ABQ or HTS-MHK), which isn't particularly long...

Anyone who makes a statement like this obviously doesn't know anything about football. I am a sportswriter and aviation fan - and I had to jump all over it. Check the Vegas line, as Toledo is a favorite by five points.

The MAC is one of the most underrated conferences in America. Leading returning rusher in the nation? Garrett Wolfe from Northern Illinois...anyone know which conference Byron Leftwich, Randy Moss, Ben Roethlisberger, Charlie Frye, etc. played? I could go on...Anyway, that's right...the MAC.

One last thing in closing...ask North Carolina State how Division I-AA "should be" MAC team Akron is...they knocked off NC State in Carter-Finley Stadium last weekend. This kind of MAC disrespect makes me furious...

...and the BC fans above known how well Central Michigan played them earlier...

The MAC is a pretty strong conference. Look at the QBs they've put into the league. Roethlisburger, Frye (recently), Leftwich, Pennington. There is a lot of talent in that area, and the league is pretty strong. Look at teams like Toledo, NIU, Akron, and formerly Marshall for that matter. Sun Belt is a crappy league, but I wouldn't say the MAC. Obviously, as was stated earlier, if that comment is any indicator of your football knowledge, you need to brush up SLCUT...

...and the BC fans above known how well Central Michigan played them earlier...

Although CMU gave a good fight, the end result is all that matters.
Well I believe it all is coming to an end. Oh well, I guess we are gonna pretend.

Newport News (PHF) saw a JetBlue A320 today that came in from BGR as flight 4511. It left PHF for CHO as flight 4712. Was this also a football charter, and why would it stop in PHF? Is it something to do with William and Mary's game in Maine on Saturday?

Thanks!  Smile

All nonstop flights are direct, but not all direct flights are nonstop!

Mangino is one fat ass guy. There are other fat coaches though, but so far, none of them come close to Mangino. He is well liked by his players though, and regarded as a "player's coach" according to people I've talked to about him though.

This my friend is just a total waste of money..four hour ride at the most, ride the bus, it take longer to fly.

Waste of time on the defending National Champions? Continental is so far in bed with the University of Texas at the end of the day CO is definitely cutting a check to UT Athletics to be the sponser of the UT Mens Football team. I saw them leave in a 764 for the Rose Bowl last year.

I'll try and snap some pics if we aren't busy when they get back.

Hookem.
