What IFE Is Available On BA's European Network?

Wed Sep 20, 2006 2:46 am

Could someone please tell me what IFE is available on each aircraft used on its European network.

Am I right in thinking that all its Airbus operations have screens which come down above your heads to show short programs, and that all the Boeings have nothing?

What about Business Class?

Very little. All I;ve ever seen on the Airbuses is the Skymap. 767s used on some longer Europe secotrs do have the odd film though.

The Airbus fleet offer drop down overhead screens, and since the fleet aren't generally used on the routes which have proper IFE, they only show the sky map.
The Boeing fleet (or at-least the 757 and Short/Haul 767 fleet) have fixed overhead T.V screens, like you have at home, and show the sky map on shorter routes, however, routes to places like LCA, ATH and DME (basically S/H routes over 3hrs), they show a limited range of films and t.v programs from the screens.

It is exactly the same IFE wise, they show the same films or sky map, and the screens aren't any bigger.

Hope that helps

Good IFE? Maybe if you end up on one of the handful of flights that has DVD players handed out in First Class....That is unless you count ancient episodes of 'Taxi' entertainment  Wink

Consider that AA MD80s don't have any IFE and look how many of them are buzzing around. It is almost as hit and miss whether you'll get any IFE at all. I suspect this goes for all MD-XX aircraft.

With convertible seating you can't make any provision for Business Class with regard to IFE...or pretty much anything regarding the onboard hard product.

Sometimes on the shorthaul Airbus flights I have asked to have the skymap shown. Does help to pace drinks taking into account driving if I have to  Wink

BA's old A320 (those delivered between 1988 and 1990) don't have those screens and don't have any IFE.
