MON Or TCX Premium?

Wed Sep 20, 2006 8:20 am

Quick question:
I am a travel agent for Thomas Cook and was looking at a trip to Mombasa for a client. Having read the brochure he wants to upgrade to TCX Premium class, however the flight is operated by Monarch. Is their Premium cabin on the A330 the same as TCX and indeed MYT? Or would I be better advising him to book on FCA, even I am meant to recommend the Thomas Cook product?

Any input from anyone in the know would be much appreciated!

Well seeing as TCX don't fly to Mombasa you can't upsell the TCX product, but you still need to maximise your sales etc., so advise him of all his available options (MON or FCA), and then let him know which you think is best! Take it from there... personally I'd recommend FCA  Smile
Thomson Airways - The UKs premier charter airline // now flown : BY -AA -AJ -AE -AT; OO -AX -AU -RA -BG; BRIG; OBYD

Show him the pages in the brochures which have the information about the different charter airlines. They'll probably have a few bullet points about the premium cabin, and a photo or two...

I don't think MON's premium cabin is as good as TCX... but FCA's looks a darn sight better than either.

Monarch premium is hardly worth it, the seat pitch is only 34" but a lot better than the economy.

Thomas Cook again is 34" but its much better service, and a bit more service from next summer.

First Choice is deffinatly the best for Mombasa, 36" seat pitch and just about every other ammenity you could think of.

Thomson isnt so good at the moment, but if travelling after May then ok.

Hi,

I wouldn't reccommend Monarch Premium to anyone unless there where no other choices. If I where you, I would support the operators that support you commission/incentive wise. For example, if you cannot sell TCTO, Sell Cosmos (Monarch flights) or Airtours/Manos (MyTravel flights). Go in the order of those you are supposed to sell.

Depending on the season your client is looking for and airport they want to travel from, there is only MyTravel Airways and First Choice Airways who do the route from MAN during Winter.

Both airlines offer 36" Seat Pitch, Seat Back Entertainment, Complimentary Drinks etc....

Regards

Aslo Monarch premium seating is 2-4-2 compared to the 2-3-2 of TCX's and MYT's premium seats which probably also makes some difference.

Monarch seem fit to put the scheduled configuration into the premium cabin so really there isnt that much more space. If leather seats matter again Monarch are out of the question.

NO they don't they have Fabric Seating:

I Can't actually find any pics of Premium Economy but if the're gonna upgrade regular economy, don't you think they're gonna do the same for Premium?

The longhaul fleet's cabins are still all fabric seat covers throughout aswell with the moajority of the rest of the fleet. I think there's only a few A320's and 321's that have leather seats at the minute but when they increase the legroom on their A330's next summer i think they will re-fit the seats or at least seat covers then.
