RE: Air One To Start LCY Flights

I had read about them wanting to start flights between Milan and LCY in the current edition of Airliner World. BUt as I couldn't find anything on their website or in Amadeus I thought it might not be true. So now it comes as an even bigger surprise that they not only start flights to LIN, but also FCO, GOA and TRN. That is six flights on weekdays, quite impressive.

I just checked and it seems they start flights to LIN on 20th November, flights to FCO seem to start in January and those to GOA and TRN in February. Aircraft for all flights is planned to be an ARJ70.

Departures from LCY will be as follows:

AP4217 LCY-LIN 10.10-13.10
AP4219 LCY-LIN 17.30-20.30

AP4221 LCY-FCO 10.35-14.05
AP4223 LCY-FCO 16.50-20.20

AP4227 LCY-GOA 10.30-13.40

AP4225 LCY-TRN 17.45-20.45

AP seems to be expanding a lot at the moment. I hope they know what they are doing...

GOA/TRN start on JAN29, 2006.

Anyone with an insight what three aircraft will be sourced ? The ex airBaltic ones or the three ex Turkish RJ70s ?

Apparently, Club Air will operate the RJ70s. It has already taken delivery of an ex-Euromanx/Arr Malta example.

No wonder AZ is loosing money. They should have had these flights for ages now.

As for BA, I never quite understood the flight from LCY to MXP, it throws away all the advantage of leaving from an in town airport. I am sure Air One will have a big hit with LIN-LCY.

Maybe BA will also switch from MXP to LIN.

Seems more likely that they throw in the towel and re-allocate the aircraft to increase frequency to existing routes such as FRA or MAD.

A once-daily service to LCY is certaily no money-maker. Hence I have my doubts about the GOA route as well. TRN is okay because it brings a day-return option, but GOA is just the filler for that.

Yes, they come from "Transwede" of Sweden.

I know this is gonna be slightly off-topic but as we are talking about LCY...

I talked to some colleagues at work about AP coming in (I work at LCY), some had already heard about it. They also said that they heard a rumour that there are some changes to come to LH's operations. Apparently LH would take over the MUC flights and operate them with a "jet" and they would also start flights to HAM (and apparently these would be operated by Cirrus). So far I couldn't find anything in the reservation system. I don't know whether that is true, I will see if I can find out more tomorrow... Maybe one of you has also heard about it and is able to provide a confirmation.

Cheers,
Chris

Transwede currently operates on behalf of SAS. The rumour regarding Air One is that Club Air will operate these flights - first I have heard about Transwede ?

@ FRALIM:

Apparently, hAM-LCY is already being advertised to travel agents in the Hamburg region, so there seems to be some truth in it.

I am wondering how LCY is abe to providle all this ramp space and slots, given the recent increase of flights by VLM (+9), KLM (+2), Air One (+6) and Lufthansa (++2). I mean they are not all off-preak flights.

I asked someone at LH about it today. The plan is, as I said before, that LH takes over the flights to MUC and operates them with an ARJ, in return C9 would operate those new flights to HAM. But I was also told that this is not conformed yet...

Good point! There is definitely lack of space landside (gates have to be shared) and especially airside during the morning and evening peak. I reckon that's why AP's departure times ex LCY are not really ideal. Their flights depart just after the morning and just before the evening peak. I could imagine that there were no slots available at around 9.00am and 7.00pm.

HAM-MUC will apparently remain with Cirrus (Dornier 328) while HAM-LCY will be operated by a Cirrus Dash 8-100.

You mean MUC-LCY ?
Exceptions confirm the rule.
