What Will Happen To AA 767 At LAX?

Wed Sep 20, 2006 10:38 pm

Does anyone know what the fate of N330AA? This is the AA 767-200 that caught fire after an engine failure during an engine test.

This photo from July states that the aircraft's next stop is Mojave, CA. How is this possible? It would seem to me that the only way this plane is going anywhere is in pieces. Can the aircraft be repaired on-site?

I think that you've answered your own question...

The only reason it'd go to Mohave is for scrapping, so there's no "repair" involved. The aircraft isn't flyable, and never will be again, so the conventional wisdom is that they'll break the aircraft up into truckable pieces at LAX and then drive them over to MHV...

The keel beam was cut by the exploding turbine. When this happens the aircraft is preety much a write off. So basically the aircraft will be parted out and sold as scrap.
Never take financial advice from co-workers.

See #12 for keel beam.

Does anybody know when the scraping will take place? I travel to LAX quite often and would love to be able to catch a glimpse of that.
