NWA DC9 Seating

Sat Jul 01, 2000 10:13 am

My daughter will be flying from dtw to rdu this summer on a dc9-50. She has been assigned seat a in row 24.

This is pretty far back. I know it will be loud for her but she really is hoping for a window to look out of....will the engines obscure her view from there?

She'll be able to see the engine but she'll still be able to see outside pretty well. I've sat in row 23 before. 24 can't be a lot worse.

Unless the flight is totally booked, you can probably call NW and ask for a window seat closer to the front of the plane (if you already haven't, that is) - also, check NW's web site, where they may have a seating chart of their -50's. Yes, it'll be a little loud back there, but she may have an unobstructed view. You can also try to move her seat the day of the flight, but that does not always work !!

Hi!

I flew NWA DC-9-50 the beginning of June from MSN-DTW and we had seats 24 and 25! Me and my brother took row 24AB and parents had 25AB. Well the 24 is right in front of the engine but still get a great view from below. It is a bit noisy but just tell here that the view is good and you can also look inside the engine!

Go to www.nwa.com and go to the bottom of the page and click on ABOUT NORTHWEST... there click on SITE INDEX and scroll down until you find Seat Maps.

Regards,
Shane

The engine noise doesn't really annoy me after take off and cruise altitude has been reached.
