Last Paraguyan Airline? (pics)

Sat Sep 23, 2006 5:53 pm

THis topic continues the "TAM plans MIA-ASU"
the subject diverted into the search of the last Paraguayn Airline.

As explained, in MAi 2000, I went to ASU and I had a local trip to go to the Iguacu falls.
We travelled to Ciudad del Este with a small plane, and then drove.
It seems the name of the Airline was Arpa, the plane was something like a ten seater, I hope that some fans could help me identify the plane and others maybe the Airline. see the pics:

In flight, easy access to the cockpit !

I am hoing to ASU in October and again to Iguacu falls, but his time no plane possibility any more !

I'm not into props, but Wikipedia says that A8 has a fleet of one Cessna 208A Caravan and two Cessna 208B Grand Caravans. The article mentions also that as of January last year the airline still operated to AGT and was fully owned by JJ.

I couldn't find anything of A8 in the database, but here are two pics of the different Caravan models for comparison:

Comparing this to your pic no.3 I'd say you flew a 208A.

P.S. This is my 500th post on A.net!

As I know ARPA was rebranded to TAM Mercosur. They have the two Cessna 208 and also two Fokker 100 (leased from JJ).

Hi Marcus, if you see the colors on the plane you're standing next to, they're those of TAM. (old livery)

So even back then it was probably associated with TAM already. Proving my suspicion there hasn't been a real Paraguayan airline since LAP.

Hi MIami,
You are dam right, and in fact I watched the picture of my friend with the hostess at the boarding with a magnifying glass, and I could see that the ticket he holds has a the TAM letters in red on the bottom right.

I am on the right on the second picture

regards
Marcus
