We should be getting final word pretty soon. JetBlue has stated that they cannot give public information until all deals are made final and property rights are forfeited. Makes sense.

Does make sense, I know David had mentioned 3 to 5 A320's, he did say that 3 would leave the fleet in September and 2 could depart in October. is it safe to say that they have found a buyer for the remaining 2?

Will Vueling offer inflight TV / PTV on those A320's?
I know both companies are run with the same business philosophy (or at least JetBlue managers are involved in Vueling).

I was just thinking the same thing. Considering the IFE jet Blue uses is related to United States satellite I doubt it would be available in Spain or Europe. Maybe they can make a deal with Canal Plus or something.

The actual programming is U.S-based. But the IFE itself - as in the unit - can be used anywhere. Don't forget that WestJet, Virgin Blue and now some Italian airline all have LiveTV service.

Why is jetBlue selling some of their A320s? they have too many of them now that they brought the E190? Is the company not going too well nowdays that they rather sell their airbuses for some cash? Could anyone give me some info? Thanks...

They have staggered there delivery of all A/C 320's and 190's, in an effort to return to profitability. They will still take delivery of 12 320's (I could be wrong) next year. The sale of these 5 320's helps with maintenance cost, and capcity.

Hmm, does this mean Vueling and Blue Wings might possibly become customers of LiveTV?

"Blue Crew"

Looks like Ship 507 was one of B6's first aircraft.

This move by B6 makes so much sense. Part of B6's allure is that they fly "brand new" planes. The a/c mentioned has been in the fleet for over 6 years. While it still may be considered new to some airlines, passengers may see worn out overhead bins and dirty walls as sign of age and feel duped that they are not on a new plane.

Also with B6 getting rid of these a/c while getting new a/c they are able to get rid of a/c that are no longer under warranty and now cost maintenance dollars.

Seems like a smart move to me.
Dave

P.S. wonder if they will recycle the name?

checkmark  Does anyone that works for jetBlue know what the other tail #'s are? Either way with the sale of these A/C jetBlue will add millions of dollars to there balance sheet, not to mention the cost they save on maintance!!

JetBlue sells 5 jets to Blue Wings AG

By Mary Schlangenstein
Bloomberg News

JetBlue Airways Corp. has sold five Airbus A320 jets to Blue Wings AG of Germany as part of its plan to slow growth after two straight quarterly losses.

Blue Wings has taken delivery of two of the airliners and expects the others by the end of October, spokesman Frank Lorentz said in an interview Tuesday. Neither Blue Wings nor JetBlue disclosed the purchase price.

The transaction completes one step in New York-based JetBlue's plan to generate $70 million in savings and added revenue this year. The low-cost carrier said in April it was shedding the planes after losing money in the last quarter of 2005 and the first quarter this year.

JetBlue said last month it would record a $6 million third-quarter gain from selling the 180-seat jets, and an "immaterial" loss in the fourth quarter. JetBlue blamed its earlier losses on not responding quickly enough to rising fuel prices, expanding too fast and not managing its fares.

Blue Wings, based in Bocholt, Germany, makes scheduled and charter flights between Dusseldorf, Germany, and several Turkish cities.

The closely held company is 48 percent owned by Alpstream AG, a Zurich-based investment company controlled by Russian billionaire Alexander Lebedev's National Reserve Corp. Lebedev also owns 30 percent of OAO Aeroflot, Russia's largest airline.

Blue Wings is spending $1.5 billion on airplanes, including the five purchased from JetBlue and 20 new A320s it committed to buying from Airbus SAS in July, Lorentz said. The new planes will arrive from 2009 through 2011 and will be used to extend flights throughout the former Soviet Union, Blue Wings Chief Executive Officer Joern Hellwig said in July.

Hellwig owns 26 percent of Blue Wings, and another 26 percent is held by Cyprus-based NIL Investment Holding.

N508 has also been stripped on the outside with a blue tail

N526 has been re-painted in an all-white tail like N507. N526 is at H81 right now but inside.
