747 At EDI

Wed Sep 27, 2006 6:03 pm

Morning all,

Passing the end of the main runway last night at 5pm. Saw what looked to be a 747 sitting at one of the main stands. Not a normal visitor to EDI. Who was the operator and what was it doing there?

Ta,

Kev

Looking at the MANTMA group on google there was F-HSEX on a TOM9069P flight yesterday afternoon that went to either GLA or EDI. Flew East of manchester at around 4pm yesterday.

F-HSEX was in EDI filling in for a tech 767. The Glasgow/Edinburgh Palma flights were combined, with Glasgow passengers being bussed through to EDI.

Yes, was a combined flight for the ALC-EDI and ALC-GLA of BY cause the first one (767-290 pax) had tech problems. The "jumbo" took off from Alicante with more than 500 pax.

Yes it was. Either the GLA or the EDI flight was 11 hours delayed, so they bussed evereyone to GLA and they flew them to ALC on the 747. That´s 2 747´s we´ve had within a month, and both for charter delays too. ALC is too small to cope with such a big flight at once. At least they got here in the end.

'fraid not, just read about it on the MANTMA group. I think it would have been a small dot in the east if I was even looking for it.
