A.net Caracas Meeting

Thu Sep 28, 2006 11:30 am

Hey guys,

Seems like the previous thread has been deleted, thus this new one.

Ok, now that I've four A.netters confirmed and three standing-by, I'll put the latest on where and when is it finally going to be.

The best place I have in mind is in a Lounge called TAO inside one of the best Malls of the city: Centro Comercial Tolon. It has a cool meeting area with nice sofas and tables where we can chill, have some drinks, and enjoy a typical Caracas Saturday night. The place is full of nice waitresses and flat TVs, some Budda Bar styled music and a low light scenery. Pretty cool I must say.

Now, about the meeting... I've already contacted two people who work for Conviasa (one is a pilot and the other one...) and I'm supposed to call them again tomorrow to settle everything up. I really hope I can bring them, so we can add some spice to the meeting.

Now, as soon as I get their confirmation, I'll tell you all what's the final time going to be. So far, I think that around 6PM on Saturday 7th will be good. It's a good time for everyone. I know some of you might prefer different timing, and if the guys from Conviasa can't make it, we'll adapt it as you preffer.

Until now, the confirmed A.netters for the meeting are:

Chiguire
Avianca
Luisde8cd
TGV
797

Standing by:

BA747
erikgonha

So, everything seems to be going ok. Tomorrow I'll call and see what happens.

Hope to see you all here!

Saludos

Enrique

Just a heads-up guys, the original thread was not deleted but moved to non-av: Caracas A.net Meeting (by 797 Sep 20 2006 in Non Aviation)

Suerte con la reunión!
Carmen
Don't expect to see me around that much (if at all) -- the contact link should still work, though.

This is a problem of A.net, as no clue is given of where the post has gone (in pprune they help us a little!).
And as the search function works only forum by forum this is not easy!

Anyway I am happy to see the meeting preparation is going well, thanks to Enrique, and in preparation for it you will find the report of my last trip to Paris at:

CCS-CDG-CCS With AF In Y (by TGV Sep 29 2006 in Trip Reports)

Enjoy yourselves guys, if any of you ever come to AMS we'll meet up here. By now I've met some a.netters (on the job, passengers) and it has been a fun experience always.

I'm heavily in favor of the a.net identifying pins too but they don't seem to come through  Wink Shop is down even.
I wish that all skies were orange and blue!!

I don't think so. If we come to speak about the service problems with venezuelan airlines this would take us at least the whole night  duck

Yes, ceratinly ! You should not be under 3 and not over 99 !

Hey guys!

I just came back from a day-off down in La Guaira, or Bosnia after the war I'd rather say, that's why I haven't answered.

So, it seems that the list is growing! Great to hear!

Today I'll call the guy I want to bring (Conviasa), and if he agrees to come, I'll put the final time of the meeting.

So far, 6PM sounds great. I'll go up there and make reservations as soon as I can.

Until now, we have the following a.netters  Smile

Avianca
797
Luise8cd
TGV
Chiguire
Tope98

On stand by:

EDGAREN
Cessna057
BA747

So, if everyone can make it we'll be up to 9 or 10! SOUNDS COOL!

Quoting Cessna057 (Reply 13):

Dude I'm probably your age (as I can see from the profile!) and you don't have to worry about drinking down here!

Ok guys, I'm putting my cell number here for those of you who need more info. I can gladly pick up any of you in a hotel, if you're a staying in one...

I think it's too late to mention it BUT.... remember about the pro-Rosales march which will take place on Saturday. Las Mercedes is a meeting point. I wouldn't want our friends from VLN to lose their time coming to CCS to find closed roads & avenues. Maybe it'd wiser to move the meeting time up to 7PM to avoid any problems?

Saludos desde Caracas,
Luis

Guys I just spoke to the Conviasa guy who I want to bring and he said there was a 50% chance he could come, because he's out on a 5 day trip to PMV to fly the ATR. As this is the situation, he doesn't know if he'll be able to come; however, he gave me the number of a Conviasa VIP (not related to government whatsoever!) and I'm supposed to call him today to see what happens.

Well, I don't know about that. It could be fine by me, but how about all the other confirmations? The VLN guys might not be able to make it on Friday. I think TGV can't...

You guys have the choice, it could work fine for me on both days, but you'll have to tell me in advance so I can arrange everything up!

In fact Friday is not possible for me, I am very busy at the office right now, and we have something important to finish on Friday, so and will not be able to leave earlier enough for a reasonable arrival time in CCS Friday evening (furthermore the uncertainties of the ARC have to be taken into account!).

For Saturday the march is indeed a risk, too bad there is no metro to go there.
True I should have to leave around 8:30/9:00, so I should not be considered as a too important element in the organization!

Just define what is best for the majority.
Anyway it seems that I will be quite often in CCS for the coming week-ends for various reasons, so if I can not make it this time, there will be other opportunities before year end (more frequent than Avianca's mom stop-overs !).

Well guys, here's the thing.

I'm going to call for sure the Conviasa guy tomorrow. I must tell him an accurate date and time. If he agrees to come, we cannot leave him standing, he's pretty much an important person... if you all know what I mean.

I'd love to have all of you guys in the meeting! Actually, that's the main point of it!

Friday may not be a good day, since our friend TGV has just confirmed that he won't be able to make it.

Saturday for me keeps being the best day. The march starts in the morning and I don't really think it'll last until 6-7 PM. By then, Las Mercedes (which is a meeting point for the march supporters in the morning) should be cleared.

I say again, it's up to you guys, but as more we have on the meeting, the best. Maybe Avianca can show up for a while, who knows...

Anyhow, tomorrow I'm calling this guy and if he can't come, then we'll make it on the best day for all of us. That will have to be decided, then.

Allright guys, try to post so we are updated.

Ok...

Just spoke to Luis and BA747 and re-confirmed that the meeting will be this Saturday 7h at 7PM. This time so you guys can make it there in the hypotetic case that some traffic appears (which I don't think).

Tomorrow I'll go to the meeting place and make reservations for all of us. I really hope you all can make it, we'll have fun. I still have to confirm Chiguire's assistance, since he might leave earlier than expected to attend some business.

After I make reservations, I'll post the exact address & place, so you can be well informed.

Last night I received an SMS from Cougar, a mexican A.netter and told me he'd meet us there! So that makes us one more.

So far we've:

797
Luise8cd
TGV
Chiguire
Tope98
BA747
Cougar
EDGAREN

Tope98 hasn't contacted me again, so I'm waiting for his reply.

Call me if any of you have questions!

See you tomorrow!

FINAL CONFIRMATION

All right guys, today's the day!

Last night I went to the place and made the reservation for all of us. The place seems pretty cool to me! I hope you all like it!

Despite the march that's going to take place tomorrow in the city, I believe that by the time of the meeting, Las Mercedes will be pretty much cleared, so I really doubt to see any inconvenient.

I received a call from a Mexican A.netter, Cougar, making his confirmation. Also, I received a PM from 757200 saying he was going to try to make it, as well...

All right, time, place:

Centro Comercial El Tolon
Las Mercedes, Caracas
Piso 5
TAO Lounge (you can go up either by elevator or stairs)
Starting 7PM until we get tired of talking  bigthumbsup   bouncy

Confirmed A.netters:

797
Luise8cd
TGV
Chiguire
Tope98
BA747
Cougar
EDGAREN

Who might come crossfingers :

757200
Avianca
