NW Codesharing With AF, AZ, OK

Sat Sep 30, 2006 1:06 am

I found this docket to be quite interesting. I'm not sure however exactly what it allows. Based on my understanding it allows KLM, AF, AZ, OK, DL, NW to codeshare on transatlantic flights, and on flights beyond the US, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, and Italy.

Do you think NW will start new services to Italy, and Czech Republic. What does this alliance really allow? Does it benefit other airlines. Can we see more international service from abroad into the US?

So could a flight from ORD-DTW-CDG-NCE be all coded by NW, because the DTW-CDG sector is flown by both AF and NW, and the CDG-NCE is flown by AF, but NW can now code on AF flights?

1. In your situation (ORD-DTW-CDG-NCE) could be all NW coded, but on up to three different flight numbers.
2. Please don't describe your situation as ONE flight with THREE sectors (with a SINGLE flight number). It is a single itinerary.

It's a hypothetical flight itinerary. It's not my flight. I was just asking a question.

These are all Skyteam airlines. So, yes, htat could happen in theory I believe.

Yes, I know for sure there is a list of AF flights beyond CDG where NW is going to codeshare. The same for AF. They are going to codeshare on flights beyond DTW. I believe the code sharing will start sometimes at the end of this year. I have the info from flyertalk.com, but cannot find the thread now.

NW is not going to be launching new service to PRG or Italy.

What this states, is an expanded codeshare agreement between all of the Skyteam carriers. Right now, many of the flights cannot be codeshared, but you still get the benefits of Sky Team.

For example, this is an actual itinerary I just flew
DTW-AMS NW operated, NW flight #
AMS-PRG KL operated, NW flight # (codeshare)
PRG-AMS OK operated, KL flight # (codeshare)
AMS-DTW NW operated, KL flight # (codeshare)

For example, OK does not codeshare with NW, so I had to book that as a KL codeshare, and my NW flight, was on a KL codeshare. Basically, all this would do is eliminate some of confusion between the multiple codeshare agreements. It also sets the stage for the downgrade of the NW/KL alliance, where that NW would have greater ability to codeshare with all of the Skyteam partners.

NW began codesharing with AF last month. NW does not yet share its code with OK or AZ.

That is correct.

Hence why in order to fly on an OK flight, I have to codeshare through KLM.
