Ethiopian's Converted B757

Sat Sep 30, 2006 8:56 am

Ethiopian's newly converted B757 was expected to leave Paine Field in Everett on Wednesday on a PAE-IAD-LGW-ADD routing. Anyone seen pics/logs of the aircraft? Can't find anything on Flightaware.

OK. Don't get too desperate for the pictures. Here they are.

Thanks for coming through  Wink Fair to assume that touch up paint will be done upon delivery?

Ethiopian applied for and received approval to operate a revenue flight using the delivery of this aircraft.

I'm curious. Why do they bother to fill the front and back exit doors, but not the middle ones??

Thanks for the pics!

Ethiopian's newly converted B757

So this is a Precision Conversions modification performed by Goodrich ATS on a PW 2040-powered aircraft? Is it the full 15-pallet conversion? It looks like it, given that they moved the entry door (moving the entry door is a feature of the full-15-pallet conversion to maximize useable deck area). Actually, with the 2040s, this baby should be a solid performer.

Yes, it is the full 15 pallet conversion.

New door and deck to the flight deck, along with a toilet, rafts, and additional bracing.

I'll be there to take delivery shots. Do we have a time on that departure yet?

*Thinks to self... 34L or 16R? Hmm....*

And so she left today ... at least according to flightaware. Not via IAD/LGW, and contrary to the filing with DOT for commercial service. She left for Brussels in the morning, nonstop from Everett.

Yes she did... i got shots of it. There is one image in screening now... so hopefully we'll have something to look at here soon.  Smile

They never painted it. So it still had this big missing section where the new cargo door was and over each "window."

Ethiopian has an MRO operation of their own in Addis Ababba; they're probably delighted to paint it themselves in their own paint shop.

Not sure how much room was available, they carted back to Ethiopia all the parts torn out during the conversion, along with some spares.
