Egypt Air Exercise 6 737-800 Options

Sun Oct 01, 2006 7:59 pm

This order has already been accounted for in Boeings Unidentified totals on their O&D spreadsheet;

CAIRO, Egypt, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) and EgyptAir today marked delivery of the airline's first Next-Generation 737-800 by announcing the Cairo-based carrier's exercise of options for six additional 737-800s for delivery in 2009. The total order for 12 airplanes is valued at $850 million at list prices and marks a significant investment by EgyptAir to bolster its regional operations with the highly efficient and reliable 737.

EgyptAir placed its original order for six aircraft and six options in August of 2005. The six options confirmed today as orders were added to Boeing's Orders & Deliveries website this past week as being unidentified.

I don't think they ordered any 900ER did they? They ordered only 800 Series aircraft. It seems to me that the 800 is the most successful variant of all four NG variants, followed by the 700.

I'm hoping that the total 737 production of all 9 variants in a 40+ year time frame will reach the 7000 units.

Manni,
I'm afraid you misunderstood me to some extent . I must admit I am partially to blame due to my brief reply . I was simply trying to state the total orders announced this past week . Just wasn't completely sure of the exact # due to the fact there was some speculation of the unidentified orders . So I underestimated !

Quoting PanAm_DC10 (Reply 5):
You're right Manni 40 frames were not ordered this week. However, Boeing booked 26 UFO's on Thursday of which these 6 were included. On Friday FR announced an options exercise of 32 x 738s and confirmed they had signed the agreement the same day, too late to hit the books, so Boeing got 58 additional orders and commitments for the 737 series this week.

Manni,
Do you agree with the above statement ?

You are indeed to blame. You've started the topic about Boeings weekly update that included the 26 737s. You've also contributed to the topic about FR's 32 737's, this was on saturday. As mentioned in reply 9.

I'm dissapointed now. How could YOU be wrong by such a big margin.  eyepopping

I'm glad Egypt Air exercised its options for the 738. They need the extra planes for the extra capacity.

Although MS certainly isn't paying $850K each, these planes are hot right now, aren't they? They must be very expensive.

No MS only order 737-866, and they received their first SU-GCM on Sep. 28

That's so True, with Egypt Air to double their fleet by 2010, it was expected they will exercise more of the B738 hopefully we will see a confirmed order soon.
