Before you read - there is no source backing this up so you will have to trust me.
A mate of mine was on the MAN-Belfast (City) I THINK flight on BE yesterday.
There was a majour hydraulic fault, and the captain did not have control of the aircraft and could not turn the plane. My pal said that every time the plane tried to turn it shuddered violently, and felt as if it was going to call apart.
The pilot then came on the tannoy and said that they had lost almost all hydraulic control and were going to attempt an emergency landing at Belfast International airport, but apparently this is when it got hairy.
As the pilot could not line up, he had to get it into a corkscrew turning maneuver to lose altitude, but it was only recovered from just in time to touch down VERY hard, apparently they could see the fire crews and ambulances as they were still in a 40 degrees bank and very low.
All in all, sounds like a very scary situation, anyone know the equipment of this flight?
I'm amazed this hasn't been reported on else where.
