Enough Connection Time At IAH?

Wed Oct 04, 2006 3:09 pm

I've searched the forums for this one, but my question is slightly different.

I'm flying CO from DCA-IAH-EZE on Nov 20. My flight from DCA gets in at 8:18p, and the EZE leaves at 9:00p. This is only 42 minutes to probably get from terminal C to E.

First question -- this being around Thanksgiving and involving a terminal change, will I have enough time to make my EZE flight?

And second, I'm silver on CO. What's the chance I could call CO's elite desk and ask them to put me on the next earlier flight from DCA, without a blasted change fee? Even if you all think I'll have enough time I think I would still feel more comfortable with more time, since I'd lose an entire day of my short EZE trip if I miss the flight. I should've asked them to do this when I booked the flight by phone!

Shouldn't be a problem, It is very easy now to connect from E to C without much difficulty there is a passthough from E to Terminal D and you can take the Termalink from there. The only trouble I can see you having is of course if you are delayed inboud or the DCA flight parks at the far end of E but there is a good possibility your flight to EZE will depart out of E as well. I would also suggest calling the Elite desk and seeing if you can get on the earlier flight from DCA. My father is Gold and he has changed his flights many times without incurring fees. Connecting at IAH is very easy now on Continental or Continental Express now that all the construction is done. Customs is also a breeze now with the expanded Customs Inspection area.

You should be able to make it, barring any delays in arrival or if you get seated in the back of the aircraft inbound to IAH. I've connected there before inbound to terminal B..the Express terminal and got to E in 25 minutes..all my ducks were in a row though...inbound arrived on time, I was in F, there were minimal pass traffic, and the inter-terminal tram car was just arriving from C.

Hope you make it.

If you are flying CO to CO and they are "building" the connection
for you....then it should be enough time and they are responsible
if you miss your connection.

Terminal C and E are connected......you can walk it from northside of C to E19 in 20 minutes max not even hurrying. However if the DCA flights, presuming you are coming in from DCA and IAD, DCA used to park northside of C, if so hop onto the above ground train just before the terminal C lobby and security, it is on the right walking out of the northside, hop in that do Terminal E, takes about 5 min at the very most, even if you were to just miss a train, next one is no more than 3 minutes away......off at E down the escalator turn left and it dumps you out in the terminal at the President's Club...E11 and lower is to the right, E12 and higher to the left......here look here, have fun and Silver, mmm call and see if you can change with minimal penalty but that will depend on the fare you purchased.
