I dunno if that is exactly possible.. the total flight time would put you on a plane for about 19-20 hours.. which is really a loonnnng time. All airliners fly LAX-ORD-SYD. It's a I bet in the future they will have aircraft that can last the long range.. The total miles is about 9200, which is a long range.. I believe most A/C used fly at most about 7000 miles in range.. some possilbly more, but not 9200miles!

It would be possible with most A/C's given they had extra fuel tanks. You could add extra fuel tanks to a -400 or A340 even a G-V and it could work. Keep in mind, the -400 already serves LAX-SYD. By adding ORD, you are only increasing flight time by little over 3 hours.

The New 777 Can

The new 777- the -200LR (for Long Range) will be able to fly 10,100 statute miles nonstop. That is the equivalent of Dallas to Sydney. And since Ohare is straight north of Dallas, the distance is virtually identical. Also, the proposed new 747 long range version will also fly that far.

Just curious, how is the distance between SYD-DFW and SYD-ORD virtually identical?
