The only thing worth going up there for is the old "Harris Hill Soaring Center", one of the original sailplane locations in the country. There is a pretty decent museum there, and in season, you can get either a towed or cable launch sailplane ride. Here is the URL for the site.

The only other thing up there that I can remember is a pretty decent library/museum based on the life and writings of Mark Twain. I believe he lived up there for a number of years. Other than that, not alot up there.

Headquarters of Corning Incorporated is in Corning NY, about 15 miles away. Corning is also the home of the Corning Museum of Glass (CMOG). CMOG has an extensive collection of Glass artifacts. If you are into art and Glass then it is worth a visit.
I think, they want to get some of the business traffic from Corning. Corning also has operations in Acton, MA. Bedford airport serviced by PANAM is more convenient than the 5 hour trip to Logan by US or NW and another hour drive to Acton. Whereas Bedford is much closer and the trip takes an hour!
We in the Elmira/Corning area welcome this additional pair of wings to our airport. Gives us more options!

How many J31's RON at ELM? Looking at FlightAware it appears to be two. Anyone know how the loads are in/out of ELM?

It would be nice to see new service into ITH. Many years back ITH could support nonstop service to both BOS and IAD. Maybe Commutair will start ITH-CLE service once they get their Q200's.

Elmira/Corning is also a main gateway airport for Watkins Glen International.
USAir A321 service now departing for SFO with fuel stops in CAK, COS and RNO. Enjoy your flight.
