All New Airline

In 1996, All Nippon Airways, "Japan's second airline," operated 17 550-seat domestic 747SR-100s and flew through clouds of red ink to a host of international destinations to try and match rival Japan Airlines. Today, ANA is at the cutting edge of aircraft efficiency and flies only where it can make money, as it has done in each of the past three fiscal years.

- NH replacing 10 747-400s with 777-200ER and 777-300ER
- Asian LCCs like Jetstar will operate into Haneda.
- NH will start their own Domestic and International brand ala Jetstar
- With expansion at Haneda, ANA & JP Express (now dubbed AJV) will start operating larger freighters747-8Fs, 777Fs or A380Fsto European and US destinations.
- More ANA RF-enabled mobile phones or cards check-in kiosks will be placed at airports

- Yamamoto (CEO) is not ruling out the 747-8 Intercontinental or A380 for international operations: "We'll see what effect the A380 has on our competitiveness."
- Joining fleet: 777-300ERs (4), 777-200ERs (3), 767-300ERs (2), 767-300F, A320-200 (1), 737-700s (6) and Q400s (3)
- Leaving fleet: A321s (4), A320s (2) and F50 (1).
- FY06 was a "year of lasts" as the carrier retired its last 747SR-100s (2), 747-200Bs (2), 767-200 (1) and 737-400s (2).
- Goal is to be No. 1 in Asia in terms of "quality, customer satisfaction and value creation."
