Delta Reward Travel Question

Tue Oct 10, 2006 12:20 pm

I recently booked reward travel on DL and had to use sky choice seats, flight is LAX to MAD in business class. total miles for trip was 250,000 miles. Question is this, if a sky saver seat becomes available for the same itinerary, can I cancel the current itinerary and get the credit back for the sky choice seat and then do a new itinerary for the sky saver? sky saver is only 90,000 for biz and would save 160,000 miles. Will DL let me do this?

thanks for your replies

You should be able to redeposit miles into your account I believe for a nominal fee.

and then rebook itinerary on skysaver seat? you would think they would just credit me the difference in miles and change it to skysaver.

I believe you'd have to physically cancel it/redeposit miles then book a new one. That said, I think the likelyhood of it "opening up" is probably pretty poor. Booking reward travel on DL had been getting tougher and tougher... very hard to find those few precious N class seats allotted to each flight.

Actually, there is a way around getting stuck with Sky choice seats. As your particular travel dates near, sky saver seats open up like wild fire. I can pretty much have my run at any JFK to international destination within a few days of departure in a sky saver award seat. Which is why I asked this question. Because if I can get a sky saver seat, LAX to MAD, I'll cancel sky choice and rebook it with sky saver.
