I agree with ORDPIA in that the Bose are probably the best NC
headphones out there. I have tried them on a couple of flights (business class on AA
) and really liked the noise cancellation. However, I personally don't think they are worth the money ($350) and I found them too bulky as they wouldn't fit in my laptop bag (notice: I don't have experience with the QC3; only QC1 and QC2, the latter being a nice improvement over the former).
A year or so ago I bought a pair of Sennheisers (PXC300) and I love them. They fold to something much much smaller than the Bose, they are around half the price, and the noise cancellation is almost as good. Some people apparently find them uncomfortable, but I never had that problem and have worn them on several transatlantic and transcon trips with no problems.
Something else to point out is that some NC
headphones might not be efficient in masking out passengers speaking, just the constant engine noise.
Hope this helps,
