Asiana Confirms New Colors On Aircraft

Wed Oct 11, 2006 3:40 am

Not sure if this has been posted here, but I remember there were several discussions about Asiana's new design. Now Asiana confirms new aircraft design. First new colored aircraft will be B777 HL7597 on 26th Oct. And within 5 years, all aircrafts (around 60) will be newly painted. It's cool!

Oops too small to post here.... sorry.

I Like that one as much as the old one personally.
Considering their logo isnt up to much, im pleasently surprised by the new look design of the whole colour scheme (i expected worse).

Looks a lot better than that chocolate milk scheme they have now. WN was wise to get out of the brown airplane business, yick.

Must say that, after seeing the new logo, I was very scared on how the aircraft would look. Am pleasantly surprised by this design.

The current one is better and stands out of the crowd more. I like horizontally divided liveries.
White fuselage, coloured rear section, thats what all are doing currently. The new logo is a step backwards as well. Extremely generic and boring were the old one was unique.

I like it!!

The red upside-down V, or whatever it is, looks like a mistake made by the painters. But the floral-inspired tail is quite eye-catching, even if it is on a Euro-white fuselage.

I think it looks good - I did like the old one, but as a photographer, I always welcome new colours!

The one I'm really waiting for is ANA, which introduced its current livery in 1982, on the 767 and since then, JAL has been through three livery changes. I expect them to launch a new livery on their 787s, though.

I like the tail design, but it seems to bear no relation to the fuselage titles/logo whatsoever. I think it might have worked better if they'd extended the grey on the top fuselage, plus a different logo to go with the titles.

Everything before the tail is exceedingly dull - especially the new font for their name: "Times New Boring".

Not sure what the " > " is supposed to be. Ms. Pac Man's lips? An editor's mark indicating "insert real logo here"?

The tail is great, though.

With the red, blue and yellow, I thought it was AV-the tail fin colours are from the Colombian flag! Judgement on new livery reserved until it is seen in person.

Sorry but i do not like this new Asiana livery, maybe because Asiana has kept the old one for such a long time?maybe. I rather Asiana keep the original livery because its formative and it looks a lot better than its new one to be.

The upturned wedge logo came about because the Kumho conglomerate (of which the Kumho Asiana group is one part) unifying its corporate identity across all its product lines. I've been seeing the wedge here and there around greater Seoul lately. Here it is on the Kumho international website:

http://www.kumhotire.com/int/index.jsp

I think the new livery's great, though. Fresh and eye-catching. It seems more in line with the image Korea wants to project for itself, too. Everywhere you go here, you see bumper stickers that read DYNAMIC KOREA. That's what the new livery reminds me of. I liked the old one too, mostly, although the surfeit of beige seemed drab. Asiana's one of my favorite carriers and I'm glad to see them getting this update.

To me, the old scheme is rather uninviting; not very enticing. I actually their aircraft looked like military aircraft at first... Brown on top, plus a dull tailfin scheme? What would you think if you've never seen an Asiana aircraft until then?

This newer scheme is much better IMHO. I do think they could get a little more creative with the fuselage painting tho, especially with "Asiana..."

Yes! I saw it a few weeks ago and I thought the same. Maybe Asiana and Kumho have a common controlling investor.

I agree with the majority that the tail is fantastic! I'd forgive the euro-white fuselage if Asiana had added some color to the engines (in harmony with the tail).

The tail is nice and colorlful but the new logo SUCKS! Overall I still prefer the current scheme. Love the stripes in the tail. This one is too white in the front and the Asiana titles don't look right in grey and are also too small.

Overall nice rear end, but not anything imaginative in this livery at all.

dude all the airlines are going for the same look. What if all cars looked the same and were all white with the roof painted in different colors?

In fact, from far away this livery can be confused with Air Pacific's current scheme.

Really? What about the color superposing on the tail?? And the white fuselage with colourful back??? It´s not Avianca-ish but it does seem kinda similar, in some aspects.

I actually hate the current livery. The planes look as if they were wrapped in recycled toilet paper. I hope the new livery is nicer.

I think it looks great - white fuselages generally look sleek and clean. The font on the name is simple while the color on the tail breaks up any potential monotony. Like many, I don't understand the "carrot"; perhaps it's supposed to mimic the tail of the aircraft (?).

Overall, it's a nice improvement over the current livery, which, while not unattractive, was beginning to look tired ala United's drab grey scheme.

I liked the grey fuselage of the old livery and wished they'd kept that aspect. Otherwise, looks pretty good, but what's their emblem, the branding device that on a piece of paper, a billboard etc will let people know that this message is brought to you by Asiana? That red two sided triangle?

The old scheme was average when new but most of them are very dull these days.
