ThomsonFly LTN-TFS (TOM2691) - Which Aircraft?

Sun Oct 15, 2006 9:01 pm

Hi Guys

I don't usually ask this question, but with the ThomsonFly basing a variety of aircraft at LTN this summer season and not just the usual 3 757's.

I was wondering if someone would help me and tell me what aircraft is operating ThomsonFly's Luton-Tenerife South flight today. Due to depart at 14.30 today. Several members of my family are on the flight.

Thanks in advance...

Giles

Actually, it's a B737-800. The B757-200 operates the Friday flight.

The return flight is a B752, from BY's cargo shedule..

SUN TFS 20:35 01:05 MON 752 2500 TOM2692 weekly

Aircraft still shows as a 752.

That's the winter schedule, commencing in two weeks time.

Would have been quite some time ago, as the 2691 is only a Winter flight, which starts in the late Summer season. Demand changes in the transitional period between Summer and Winter, so the Alicante flight is dropped in the middle of October and a new Tenerife flight is started in its place.

Similarly at Gatwick, come October the Tuesday Tenerife flight is upgraded from a B757-200 to a B767-300, which is pulled from the Palma/Alicante flights with the B757-200 going in it's place.

Ergh those TOM 737's are quite bad, mind you I dont know what the 738's are like, but Ive heard bad reports about the 733's! I'd have wanted the 757 myself, can't go wrong with a Tommy75!

Nonetheless, the Thomsonfly Luton cabin crew service Ive received has undoubtedly been the best in the charter industry - so they're in safe hands  Smile

Instead of starting a thread of my own, can anybody take a wild guess at what aircraft will be operating MAN-TFS on Thomson in July 2007?

Many Thanks

Thanks for the replies guys...

I am assuming it was a 737-800, spoke to my Mum a few minutes ago and said "the plane was smaller than what we flew on last time...", as you can see a really helpful reply!

I agree the 757's in ThomsonFly's fleet are great and have served the airline well over the years, but when Britannia/ThomsonFly have based nothing but them at LTN over the years it gets a little boring.

So it made a very nice and welcomed change when they based 2x 752's, 1x 762 and 1x 738 at the airport. We always welcome wide bodies at LTN, they are few and far between here, hopefully with the arrival SilverJet - 767's will become a more familar site!

Yer it's been nice to see them basing a 762 at CWL over the past few summers too... even though they are the worse planes Ive ever had the misfortune of flying on in my entire life!

The MAN-TFS flight shall more than likely a be a 767, however, now that they're ridding of 2 of their 762's, I don't know how likely that is?

Daleaholic, almost certainly a 757 or 762/3.
