BA Check In Question

Mon Oct 16, 2006 2:02 am

I had a query about the way I should check in for one on my flights in a months time and was hoping if someone could help me out with it. I am flying YUL-LHR on BA and then continuing onwards to DXB from LHR in a few hours but on a separate ticket (BA again). I wanted to know if it would be possible for me to check my baggage all the way to dubai in montreal itself and get a boarding pass issued as well for my LHR-DXB leg? I know that this would not be a problem if I had a single ticket with both flights in my itinerary, but in this case I have two tickets issued so would that make a difference ?

Technical it will be up to the airport in JFK if they will check the bags all the way through as it is a separate ticket, most of the time they do, but sometimes its a no.

Give them both tickets and ask to be checked all the way through and hopefully they will do this
Where does the time go???

Hi there let me see if i can help,

If you let the check in agent know that you have your connection all we do is put the onward flight details into the computer and it should let us check you in all the way through. If not there is another way round we can do it.

Hope this helps

The best place to get any information about policies etc is direct from BA! If you head over to ba.com and type 'check in' in the search box, the second result is 'Baggage transfer from a British Airways flight to a connecting British Airways or oneworld flight'... explains all the details.  Smile

The rule (for bags) is simple:

- Same ticket -> all the way
- Different tickets BA to BA -> all the way
- Different tickets BA to oneworld -> all the way
- Different tickets BA to non-oneworld -> no way

(Provided the MCT is met in the 2nd and 3rd situations).
