Bringing Braniff International Back

also it would be great to see Braniff come back. the last ones didnt work out due to bad management and planning.again. with the right management and routes I think it could work.

I grew up in a Braniff family with the original Braniff (check my profile) and as much as I would like to see those colorful jets fill the skies once again, it is only a pipe dream. In today's cut, penny pinching marketplace, a re-vamped Braniff could never recapture the magic, style, class that made Braniff unique.

Nope, it's time to let Braniff R.I.P.

Well, unfortunately, the great-grand daughter of Paul Braniff in 1993, who was the heir to the Braniff trademark, decided along with the other descedants of Tom and Paul Braniff, that the name would cease as an entity. It was the the last 2 attempts in 1990, and 1991, Braniff Airways 3 & 4 that the name was tied to failure, and that the trailblazing years were slipping from the minds of Americans who recall the name. The other Braniff's were tarnishing the reputation of the names with it's poor service and awful management during the poser years of Braniff.............

would not make the founders, her great-grandfather and uncle Tom proud. So they put the lid on the name usage. I believe there still is a Braniff Holdings though in Tulsa, OK. They did however, allow the usage of the "Ultra" colours to be used by Ryan International for the Nascar racing circuit charters and another company for their corporate 727 becuase the CEO of that company was a loyal Braniff customer in the 70's, right up to the shutdown in '82, and not to mention, a huge Braniff enthusiast. So they allowed him to paint his corporate 727-200, (a former Braniff -227) in the pascal blue "Ultra" colours.

I miss Braniff. I often look out my office window wishing I could see one of their rainbow fleet of 727's on final to DCA. But it isn't going to happen, any more than I'll see a TWA Constellation.

Braniff belongs to another age; an age that is - unfortunately - gone forever. You can buy some planes and slap the Braniff name on them, but that won't make them Braniff.

All we have now is our memories. But what memories they are.
