4th Of July USA Veterans....Thank You

Wed Jul 05, 2000 3:59 am

Thank you.....................

To all Veterans, especially here in the good ole USA. Anybody overseas, currently in the service, I thank you for your dedication. Current airliner pilots, former military, women and men, who now fly our best airliners daily, though tough circumstances to just about any destination, I thank you. Ground crews, service crews and customer service reps,,,,,I Thank You for your past Military service and continued service to the world of commercial aviation.

Old timers who flew prop-liners, where real men were men, like "Cannon-Ball Quinn" from Northwest Orient Airlines who would put a Boeing Stratocruiser below the deck in serious weather and make perfect dead reckoning landings where everyone else would have turned back, to the current 777 auto pilot's who sit back and relax and monitor the computers, all you veterans, peacetime or not, I thank you for all your time and dedication, and expertise in making current commercial aviation so great.

This 4th of July, free as we are, I fly my American flag out front in honor of all veterans for keeping us free and our skies clear!!!!.

You ARE appreciated....

This year - as always - 4th July was also celebrated here in Denmark. 15,000 people were gathered at Rebild Bakker (Rebild Hills) near Aalborg for the celebration which was blessed with most beautiful summer weather with sunshine and temperature in the mid seventies.
Stars an Stripes were waving in a gentle breeze along with Dannebrog (the Danish flag).
Rebild Bakker is a beautiful nature park which is preserved only for 4th July celebrations.
This may be the only place in the world outside the USA where 4th July is celebrated every year. I have never been there, it's just too far away, and besides that 4th July is an ordinary working day.
The speaches this year were mainly dedicated to the roughly 300,000 Danes who immigrated to the USA mainly about a hundred years ago.
This year there was no official US guest speaker, except the local US ambassador of course. Over the years I think that almost every former US president has been guest speaker at Rebild Bakker.
The celebrations at Rebild Bakker is organised by some Danish-American friendship organisation - I forgot its name, maybe "Rebild Kommiteen". But everybody is free to join, sit in the grass with their coffee and cakes, listen to the speaches, watch various Danish and US performers, listen to various American music by US and local bands and sing along on the good old American songs the best they can.

First let me say Happy 4th of July. Secondly this is hardley to do with aviation. I think It's borderline as to whether or not it belongs in the Non-Aviation Forum. My $0.02.
