US Airways A330 At BFM?

Tue Oct 17, 2006 12:09 am

I noticed that today US Airways is sending an A330 (N273AY) to Mobile, AL Downtown Airport (BFM) as US9239. Does anyone know the reason for the visit? Military charter? Painting? C-Check?

I was unable to find this flight on flytecomm, flightaware or acarsd.org. Where are you able to look and see this?

US does have a lot of mx done at Mobile. So yes, that would be my guess. Has this aircraft been repainted yet?

No A330s have been painted yet. That's why it makes this a potentially exciting event.

My guess is also repainting. None have been done yet, which seems unusual for an airline's largest aircraft - plus now that the heavy European summer schedule is over, this should free up some A330s to get painted over the off-season while B762s can take over some A330 routes (does US actually swap in the B762 on A330 routes in the winter or did I just make this up in my head? I know other carriers do similar things). It would be great to see an A330 in the new colors!

PHL-MAD swaps down to a 762 in the winter.
USAir A321 service now departing for SFO with fuel stops in CAK, COS and RNO. Enjoy your flight.
