Finnair has today announced it will hire some 500 new flight attendants and is doing this by a very questionable method: As only a modest part of Finnair's FA's are full-time Finnair employees, majority of its FA's were given a choice to either leave Finnair, or get hired as full-time employees by Finnair's daughter company Aero for a wage one third less (!) than they have been making at Finnair.
Obviously, they are not happy and will start a strike Thursday morning at 4am, which will practically halt all of Finnair's departures from that day on if they cannot reach an agreement by then.
Ceo Jukka Hienonen has said, on quote, that "with current cost structure, Finnair will be unable to make the required investments to develop its Asian strategy". I say bull! Considering the latest news on the A350XUDT (Extra Unpredictable Delivery Timetable), they should worry more about where to place those 500 Estonian FA's when the time comes, eeh???
What a company! Apart from top management and pilots, they treat their employees like trash. Just ask anyone who works there.
