ID880-staff Tickets

Wed Oct 18, 2006 4:51 am

I joined a UK airline recently and they offer us ID880 staff tickets on major airlines worldwide. Are these tickets good enough? I m sure they wont be as attractive as ID90s but still....are they cheap enough or is it worth booking as a normal pax. at discounted Y class fares if available?

Well lucky you. We only get ID80 on our own airline.
For longhaul, ID80 are good value. They are booked seat, but availability is dismal. If you want to go there, the seats are not available. Also, they become available at the last minute.
Yes they are good, but nervewracking. My daughter got confirmed on her flight to BOS in the summer 24hrs before departure.

Look at it this way, ID880's are fine as long as you get on the flight. If you don't, all the savings you looked like making go out of the window when you have to buy your own hotel accomodation. I recently went DXB to HKG on an AD00 and as the flight was overbooked we had to stay until the very end whilst everyone had checked in. Luckily there were 2 no-shows and we got on, but as the hotel in DXB we'd just left was full, things could've turned ugly.

When I worked in Spanair, all the staff had ID90 in all the Star Alliance network and depending your position (manager, directive) there were ID00.

This means that you only must to pay taxes but os old information...

so ID880s are stand-by tickets???
when I asked some of my collegues at work, one said they r stand-by whereas another one said they r confirmed tickets within 14 days prior to the departure. there must be some confusion over there.

besides, how can i get a price quote for a specific itenerary on a ID880 ticket? I called an airline and they were reluctant to give me any info. Instead, they advised me to ask the 'staff travel' department of my company for the final price of my itenerary.

880 is the IATA resolution it refers to. My problems were some confusion with CX when I changed bookings. As my AD00 was covered under IATA880 I had only paid the taxes on the ticket I was the lowest priority to resolve an overbooking problem.

If you are travel on a staff travel ticket, your own company has to price the ticket. I believe that is the standard at all carriers. Did you think a ID880 ticket was going to be confirmed?
