Crash Science On National Geographic Now!

Fri Oct 20, 2006 9:27 am

An interesting program about aircraft safety, crashes and new safety systems is on now! I am sure it will help us to understand certain things about safety and crash investigations.

I only caught this program by accident almost half way through, but it will be repeated at 11pm EST or about 2 hrs from now. It mentioned new techniques studied to maximise aircraft crash survival or passengers. One interesting note was that on many occasions passengers survive the initial impact of the crash but perish due to fire, smoke or get injuried from the 'stampede' of everyone getting off. It showed different studies to have less flamable fuel and more secure fixtures inside the cabin such as seats etc to reduce passengers being tossed around and injured. I will watch again in 2 hrs to catch the first part.
