A320 Enhanced Interior - When?

Fri Oct 20, 2006 7:04 pm

A while ago I saw a photo of the new A320 series enhanced cabin... my question is when will it actually implemented? Are there any aircraft out there that already have it?

I think it is going to be on all A320 aircraft that are due for delivery around mid-2007. I'm looking for where I read this.
It does look Embraery!  Smile

Everybody is copying Embraer - that is amazing!

Airbus takes the interior - Boeing the shape of the ERJ170/190-nose for their B787.

Strange world!

Those were the pics released in the FI article regarding the A320E varient which airbus talked of . According to the report/article the varient was due to EIS in 2008 and was basically an equivlant of A320NG !! We havent heard much about it since and I do not know wether airbus is working on it at the moment or is something that has been cancelled/put on the back benches .

I think it was all to do with the A380 cabin and it's technology so seeing as the A380 has been delayed I think the new cabin will also be delayed for the A320.
Does anyone know what the enhancements were?

From the article:

Airbus has also developed a new interior, which will incorporate new architecture and is 50kg (110lb) lighter, and will be available from mid-2007 on new aircraft and for retrofit.

Wow, it looks just like.......... the old A320.
Seriously, what's the difference? Seats? Everyone knows seats are airline choice.
Overheads with handrails? Welcome to Boeing, circa 1997.
Those overhead bin doors are already installed, and started with the advent of the A318 microbus.
Bigger window surrounds? Won't make up for the fact that the actual windows are still the smallest in the industry, save the Concorde.

737NG is still metres ahead... and ten years old at that.

Ho hum.

Overhead bins with lighting integrated into the hatches/handrails, that's a novelty at least for Airbus, no?

i actually prefer the now. save for the windows, the a/c cabin looks nice as it currently as.

not a fan of flat walls on the new one, like the old-school recess, and hate the trim around the windows.

wish the windows are bigger, but that's just the way the airbii are.
Some see lines, others see between the lines.

Above link is the oldest cabin shot of an A320-100 on A.net & c/n 020 entered service in Feb 89, but the Air Inter/Air France & BA -100 series aircraft in service earlier all had the same lockers with the same handrails moulded in.

If you look at the second photo in reply #2, you'll see that the walls aren't flat - it just looks that way because the bright lighting obliterates the shadows.

For what it's worth, I don't really see much change between the two - except for the extra lighting at the lower end of the overhead bin doors... though I'm not really sure what that's supposed to be for: the lighting is already brighter and clearer than on the competitor that, according to one poster, is 'metres ahead' - and, thankfully, the comfort the cabin offers is, as they currently are, already miles ahead of that competitor from the Pacific Northwest region of the US of A.

But those window trims? Ugh... who dug up that idea? I know it's - on and off - trendy to have trims set off in a completely different color, but that just looks ridiculous... I doubt we'll be seeing that specific item in service... at least I hope not...
Smile - it confuses people!
