Flying EI JFK-DUB

Sat Oct 21, 2006 5:55 am

Hi all,
I'm flying Aer Lingus (economy) from JFK to Dublin. How's the flight? Any good IFE? How's the food? Any feedback is appreciated.

Flight is ok. EI's inflight service hasn't been upgraded in yrs and it is very telling. No PTV's as only 1 of the A332 fleet has that, so you'll have the screens drop down from the overheads every couple of rows. Food is ok, usually a chicken or beef option. It's not a long flight, the 2x4x2 seating arrangement is nice, you can pre-select your seats online, but it is nothing special these days I'm afraid. (But fine for the price)
Aircraft I've flown: A300/A310/A320/A321/A330/A340/B727/B732/B733/B734/B735/B738/B741/B742/B744/DC10/MD80/IL62/Bae146/AR

Flights are usually fine.
IFE is not great as only one Aer Lingus A330 has PTVs all the other 330s have drop down screens. Food is quite nice but choice is normally chicken or beef and maybe pasta.
The seats are in 2-4-2 config. and are comfortable enough for the flight but may look a bit tired. Aer Lingus has been looking at improving the long-haul service for some while but we have yet to see any improvements.
F/As are fine for most of the flight but they are known to disappear for the last hour or two.
Have a good flight!
